Open European Championship
The Open European Championship is the largest among the European Go Congress tournaments. Everybody who has registered to EGC can participate, players of all ages from all over the world are welcome.
In 2017 more than 800 players from nearly 50 countries participated in this tournament, among them 200 dan players and a few professionals. The winner was Tao Zhang (5p, China).
Participants of the European Championship can join this tournament during the second week. All games of the European Championship besides semi-finals and the final also count for the Open Championship.
Prizes: 6.500 € for top ten players. Additional prizes for players who score at least 7 wins.
Rules: Official EGF ranked tournament level A. 10 round McMahon, Japanese rules, 6,5 komi. Top bar will be arranged according to player rank distribution and numerosity. Main time depends on the rank of the top player as follows:
4 dan and above -- main time 2h 30 min + 3×60s byo yomi
3 kyu to 3 dan -- main time 2h + 3×45s byo yomi
4 kyu and below -- main time 1h 30 min + 3×30s byo yomi
Rounds from 1 to 10: 29-30-31 July, 2-3-6-7-9-10-11 August.
